JAECOO UK expands its compact SUV line-up with new full-hybrid JAECOO 5 SHS-H

London, 15 April 2026 – JAECOO UK has confirmed the addition of a new full-hybrid powertrain to its compact SUV range with the introduction of the JAECOO 5 SHS-H. Building on the foundations of the popular JAECOO 5, the new variant brings a full-hybrid powertrain option to the line-up, designed to support customers looking for greater efficiency without compromising usability or range. Available from £26,270 OTR**, and underpinned by OMODA&JAECOO UK’s comprehensive vehicle and battery warranty, customer deliveries are expected from Q3 2026.
Following in the footsteps of sister brand OMODA UK, which introduced its first full-hybrid variant of the OMODA 5 (SHS-H) in January this year, alongside the larger JAECOO 7 SHS-H confirmed in March 2026, the JAECOO 5 SHS-H enters the growing compact SUV segment. The all-new JAECOO 5 SHS-H combines the model’s established strengths – practicality, space and focus on adventure – with a full-hybrid system engineered for consistent performance across everyday driving conditions.
Chery International brings its proven full-hybrid powertrain, which comprises a 1.5-litre turbo petrol full-hybrid system paired with a dedicated DHT automatic transmission, delivering a combined output of up to 165 kW. The original Super Hybrid System in full-hybrid form has been calibrated to provide a smooth and predictable driving experience for the JAECOO 5 SHS-H and, combined with front-wheel-drive performance, remains optimised for efficiency across a wide range of driving conditions.
With a 1.83 kWh battery and a 51-litre fuel tank, the JAECOO 5 SHS-H delivers a total driving range of more than 650 miles and fuel economy of up to 53 mpg (WLTP), supporting efficient day-to-day use without the need to plug in. Accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 7.9 seconds, it remains well-suited to drivers looking to improve efficiency without compromising range or usability.
In keeping with the wider JAECOO 5 line-up, the SHS-H variant retains the same exterior design as its petrol-powered stablemate. Its upright stance, wide shoulders and signature waterfall grille continue to define its visual identity, with design cues drawn from natural forms and terrain. The result is a compact SUV that maintains a sense of presence while remaining practical for everyday use. Available in five exterior colours – Granite White, Graphite Grey, Basalt Black, Copper Green and Lazuli Blue, with two-tone options available on the Granite White and Copper Green – the JAECOO 5 SHS-H continues to reflect the model’s balance of versatility, capability and everyday comfort.
The JAECOO 5 SHS-H will be offered in both Pure and Luxury specifications, mirroring the existing JAECOO 5 line-up. Pure provides a well-equipped foundation, including a 13.2-inch portrait-format touchscreen, a six-speaker SONY audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, alongside a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Luxury builds on this with additional comfort and convenience features, including an eight-speaker SONY audio system, a tilt and slide sunroof measuring 1.45m2, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and heated and ventilated front seats.

The addition of the JAECOO 5 SHS-H strengthens the brand’s compact SUV offering, sitting alongside the existing petrol and electric variants, creating a comprehensive range of powertrains within the competitive compact SUV segment. Together, these models provide customers with a clear choice of powertrains, while maintaining a consistent approach to design, usability and specification.
Pricing will start from £26,270 OTR** for the Pure trim and from £29,765 OTR** for the Luxury trim, with UK customer deliveries expected to begin from Q3 2026. As with all JAECOO UK models, the JAECOO 5 SHS-H will be supported by a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, alongside an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, and will be available through OMODA&JAECOO UK’s nationwide dealership network.
