Hyundai Motor America Achieves Record December and Fifth Consecutive Year of Record Retail Sales

  • Hyundai achieves “5 for 5 in 2025” with fifth consecutive year of record annual retail sales; third straight year of record total sales

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 3, 2026 – Hyundai Motor America concluded 2025 with outstanding results, achieving its fifth consecutive year of record annual retail sales and third straight year of record total sales. Hyundai reported total December sales of 78,930 units, a 1% increase from December 2024 and the best-ever December results.

December 2025 Sales Highlights
Hybrid total sales jumped 71% in December, setting a new all-time monthly record, with Elantra, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson and Palisade HEVs leading the way. Hyundai’s award-winning core SUV lineup of Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade continued to drive double-digit growth, with retail sales up 8% and total sales up 10% combined. The all-new Palisade also earned several industry honors.

Q4 2025 Sales Highlights
Despite a slight 1% dip in Q4 sales, Hyundai showed strong momentum and resilience, driven by record Q4 total sales for Santa Fe, Tucson and Palisade. The HEV category saw record growth, with total sales up 52% on the quarter, reflecting strong consumer demand for hybrid powertrains.

2025 Year-End Sales
For the year, Hyundai achieved its best-ever annual retail sales for the fifth consecutive year with 772,712 vehicles sold. Total sales hit 901,686 vehicles, establishing a record for the third straight year, led by annual sales records for Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade, IONIQ 5 and Venue. Electrified vehicles accounted for 30% of the retail mix, with HEVs jumping 36% and EVs increasing 7% year-over-year.

Hyundai and Genesis Canada make history, again! Record-breaking sales in 2025 means best year ever in Company History

  • Combined 2025 sales for Hyundai and Genesis Canada hit a record-breaking 154,405 units.
  • Tucson led as Hyundai’s the top-selling model with 41,840 units sold, while the GV70 set the pace for Genesis with 5,355 units sold.

MARKHAM, Ont. (January 3, 2026) – Hyundai Canada delivered yet another record-breaking sales year in 2025 with 146,184 units sold, an 11 per cent increase from the previous year. Genesis in Canada also raised the bar with 8,221 units sold, up 17 per cent from 2024.This landmark year was driven by strong demand and bold initiatives that set new standards for the industry. Here are the highlights:

Tucson – Leading the Charge
With 41,840 units sold, a remarkable 40 per cent increase from last year, the Tucson has solidified its position as Hyundai’s top-selling model in Canada. Offering gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options, Tucson blends bold design, dynamic performance, advanced safety features, and cutting-edge technology to meet the diverse needs of Canadian drivers.

Palisade – Scoring Big with Hockey Fans
The all-new NHL Edition Palisade was introduced in 2025 and quickly became a fan favourite, proving Canadians love a vehicle that can celebrates their passion for hockey.

With exclusive NHL-inspired details and premium comfort, this special edition vehicle helped with overall Palisade sales, which rose by 17 per cent with 9,226 units sold.

IONIQ 9 – The Electrifying Future
In Spring 2025, Hyundai introduced the IONIQ 9, its first three-row electric SUV, setting a new benchmark for what an EV can be. Offering up to 620 km of range, ultra-fast charging, and a lounge-inspired interior, the IONIQ 9 represents a significant leap forward in Hyundai’s electrification strategy.

Driving Hope, Saving Lives
Beyond record sales, Hyundai Auto Canada made a powerful difference through Hyundai Hope on Wheels and The Greatest Save.

Launched in Canada in 2025, Hyundai Hope on Wheels raised over $4 million with support of Hyundai and its 225 dealers, who contributed to an additional $165,000 towards funding paediatric cancer research at 16 hospitals and centres nationwide.

Hyundai teamed up with the NHL, NHLPA, and Hockey Fights Cancer™ to launch The Greatest Save, an initiative that donates $10 for every goalie save during the 2025–2026 NHL season. This program unites Canada’s love for hockey with a mission to bring hope to children fighting cancer.

GV70 – Redefining Genesis Sales
Genesis Canada celebrated a milestone year, and leading the way was the GV70, with 5,355 units sold, followed closely by the GV80, which also delivered strong results. Hyundai Motor UK Achieves Strong Annual Sales Performance for 2025

  • Hyundai Motor UK records more than 93,100 units sold in 2025 with 4.6% market share
  • Brand jumps three positions from 9th to 6th best-selling car manufacturer in the UK
  • Alternative fuel vehicles now represent 58% of total sales as electrification accelerates
  • EV sales grow over 10% with KONA Electric and INSTER leading the zero-emission charge

Leatherhead, 06 January 2026 — Hyundai Motor UK achieved one of its strongest-ever annual sales performances in 2025, recording over 93,100 vehicle sales – an increase of more than 1,000 units over 2024. The newest figures propelled Hyundai from the 9th to 6th biggest-selling car brand in the UK, capturing 4.6% of the overall car market. The TUCSON retained its position as Hyundai’s best-selling model, accounting for 31% of all sales.

The brand’s electrification strategy continued to deliver results, with alternative fuel vehicles representing 58% of total Hyundai sales last year. Electric vehicle sales grew by over 10%, with the KONA Electric leading the charge as Hyundai’s best-selling EV, making up 45% of all electric vehicle registrations. The all-new INSTER made an immediate impact following its launch in May, accounting for 18% of all EV registrations despite not recording a full year of sales.

The Hyundai Electric Car Grant was launched in July 2025, and this continues into 2026. The grant provides customers with immediate savings across the entire EV lineup, including £3,750 off the award-winning INSTER and £1,500 off all other Hyundai EVs, including KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 9.

Hyundai’s comprehensive model range has also garnered exceptional recognition throughout 2025, winning 30 prestigious awards across multiple categories. Notable accolades included the all-new INSTER being named 2025 World Electric Vehicle and Supermini of the Year at the 2026 TopGear.com Awards, the IONIQ 9 crowned Comfortable Cruiser of the Year at the Carwow Car of the Year Awards, and the IONIQ 5 N receiving the coveted ‘Five-Star Car’ award from Autocar.

Hyundai Motor UK sales grew 5.4% year-on-year during 2024, selling 91,800 vehicles and increasing market share by 0.1%pts to 4.7%, with the TUCSON as best-seller, accounting for 35% of all cars sold. This follows an 8.3% year-on-year sales increase during 2023 when the company sold 87,100 vehicles in the UK. More than 50% of Hyundai Motor UK’s 2024 sales were of electrified Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid or full battery Electric alternative fuel vehicles, with sales of full battery Electric Vehicles growing by 4,400 units to just under 18,000 units.
