Kia’s continued success across all categories was highlighted by its smallest model, the Picanto, which was 2025’s best retail-selling vehicle in the ‘city car’ segment, with 7,981 retail registrations (13,798 total).

Kia’s 2025 in brief
Kia UK delivered a standout performance across 2025, beginning the year with 35,063 new car sales in Q1 and a 6.0% market share, setting the tone for what became a record‑breaking period. By mid‑year, the brand had broken its half‑year record with 62,005 registrations, supported by new highs across January, March, Q1, Q2 and H1. Momentum continued into the second half, culminating in Kia UK’s best September ever and its second‑best Q3 on record, reinforcing the brand’s strong and sustained market presence throughout the year.
2025 saw Kia introduce nine new models in the UK, including a variety of passenger cars and – for the first time in its history – a new entrant in the electric light commercial vehicle market.
New models included the EV4 and EV4 Fastback, the EV5, the updated EV6 GT, and a refreshed version of the brand’s UK, European and global best-seller, the Sportage. A brand-new model, the K4, and the new Stonic, were also both introduced.
The year ended with Kia’s first eligible cars being made available with the UK Electric Car Grant, reducing the cost of a new EV4 ‘Air’ or PV5 Passenger by £1,500.
Commercial Kia
Launching an entirely new arm of the business, 2025 saw Kia launch itself into the competitive world of light commercial vehicles with the debut of its first electric PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) the PV5, backed and supported by a new PBV Centre dealer network. PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger both saw first deliveries made to customers and dealers before the end of the year, while 2026 will be the model’s first full sales year.
Awards
Kia collected no fewer than 56 awards for the UK over the past 12 months, including ‘UK Car of the Year’ and ‘World Car of the Year’ for the EV3, which was the brand’s most awarded model in the year with 22 awards. Making a very strong start, the Kia PV5 was named ‘2026 International Van of the Year’ in November, as well as being named ‘Van of the Year’ from a number of UK media outlets including The Sun, Electrifying.com, What Van?, and Parkers.
Paul Philpott, Kia UK’s President and CEO: “2025 was a challenging yet rewarding year for Kia UK, culminating in another period of organic and sustainable growth for our brand. This success was driven by a combination of legacy best-sellers – such as Sportage, Stonic, and Picanto – and our latest electric models, including the EV3, which performed particularly well in the retail market.
“It was also an unprecedented year for product introductions, with no fewer than nine new models joining the line-up. These spanned multiple powertrains and body styles, demonstrating the expansive and diverse range Kia offers consumers.
“In addition, 2025 marked our entry into the commercial vehicle sector with the UK launch of Kia PBVs and the PV5. This not only opened an entirely new customer base for Kia but also laid the foundation for a new dedicated dealer network alongside our 190-strong passenger car partners.
“Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be another exciting year with the introduction of EV2 and Seltos – two brand-new nameplates for the UK – and expanded variants of PV5 as we deliver the first full year of our commercial vehicle strategy and sales. I am incredibly proud of what the Kia UK team and our dealer partners have achieved together and remain confident in our future success.”
2026 outlook
In 2026, Kia Corporation is targeting global sales of 3,350,000 units. Kia UK is also working towards keen targets supported by the full existing model line up, and the launch of new models including the EV2 and Seltos; the latter already a popular global model having sold 299,766 units in 2025. Further announcements will follow throughout the year.
